At BCNC Physio we may recommend and use acupuncture in specific circumstances as part of a more comprehensive program targeting multiple neural and musculoskeletal systems to address certain problems. It is rarely used as a standalone treatment.
Acupuncture has become a popular complementary treatment in oncology, particularly as patients seek nonpharmacological alternatives to provide symptom control.
Research demonstrates a role for acupuncture in the following cancer symptoms: pain, nausea and vomiting, xerostomia, hot flushes, fatigue, anxiety, depression and insomnia.
Acupuncture is safe with minimal side-effects, and is clinically effective for the management of these symptoms.
The studio at BCNC Physio is purpose built and features traditional Pilates’ reformers, cadillac and wunda chair in a light-filled, pleasant environment.
While our physiotherapists use a Pilates framework, we may also include specific, targeted, therapeutic exercise to cater to clinical needs. It is more than just Pilates.
Prior to commencing Pilates at BCNC Physio, an assessment is required for all new clients, regardless of experience. Health fund rebates are available, with conditions.
Our BCNC physiotherapists can provide expert advice and intervention in assessing and screening for balance impairment, and the contributing factors. Intervention can be provided on a one-to-one basis, or in a group, where appropriate. Intervention can include training exercises to address strength, flexibility, coordination, concentration, vestibular rehabilitation, as well as advice on minimising the impact of impaired balance. As with all our treatment approaches, we place great value on being holistic and responsive to each person’s individual goals and requirements. While we are very committed to providing intervention that is based on current scientific evidence, we also believe exercise should be enjoyable, satisfying, and interesting.
Our class sizes are small to allow us to ensure we provide personalised movement supervision and maintain the highest quality standards.
The BCNC Physio team coordinate care to ensure treatment plans are focused and integrated. Remedial Massage may involve a combination of techniques to guarantee a comprehensive treatment for specific needs.
