Our highly trained staff offer a unique combination of in-house skills to provide comprehensive, evidence based management treatments tailored to specific needs.

These may include:

  • joint based manual and manipulative therapy
  • motor control stability retraining
  • imaging ultrasound assessment of muscle performance and real time biofeedback retraining of muscle function, especially for the deep spinal stability muscles
  • high level ‘core stability’ training
  • coordinated use of osteopathic joint and muscle mobilisation processes such as muscle energy techniques and myofascial manipulation
  • neuro-dynamic mobilisation
  • apparatus based stability and performance training utilising pilates and small apparatus
  • gym based exercise programs to increase strength, power, endurance, and aerobic fitness
  • preventative and maintenance programs to minimise injury and maximise performance potential
  • education and coaching on lifestyle and work related contributors

Rehabilitation

If surgery is necessary, undergoing rehabilitation is an important part of pre and post-surgery recovery. Rehabilitation can improve strength and movement patterns, improving inner and global muscle strength and endurance.

Our physiotherapists work closely with BCNC surgeons to ensure programs are designed uniquely to individual needs.

Post-Operative Rehabilitation

Our physiotherapists guide patients through graduated programs specifically designed for their individual needs.

Telephysio appointments are available for post-operative rehabilitation however it is preferred that this occurs after a face-to-face assessment.

Dizziness and Vestibular Rehabilitation

BCNC Physio thoroughly assess dizziness to determine which system is involved, manually treat as necessary and provide a specific exercise program to retrain the anatomical structures responsible for the problem.

Conditions treated at BCNC Physio can include:

  • benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV)
  • vestibular schwannoma (acoustic neuroma) – pre and post op
  • age-related vestibular problems
  • falls, or fear of falling
  • motion sensitivity
  • peripheral vestibular weakness e.g. labyrinthitis (vestibular neuritis)
  • vestibular migraine
  • stroke/vascular insult to the labyrinth, brainstem or cerebellum
  • central vestibular symptoms e.g. multiple sclerosis, tumour
  • mal de debarquement.

Many people suffering with dizziness will be referred by their specialist or GP, however, it is not necessary to have a doctor’s referral to have your dizziness assessed by a physiotherapist, unless you are under WorkCover or DVA.

BCNC Physio also provide specialised pilates-based individualised balance programs and balance classes.
