Dr John Phamnguyen, specialist Neurologist and Epileptologist

Dr John Phamnguyen is a specialist Neurologist and Epileptologist now based in Brisbane, Queensland.

Following completion of his medical training at Griffith University, Dr John Phamnguyen undertook his specialist Neurology training through several tertiary hospitals in Sydney before obtaining his Fellowship in Neurology from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. In 2020, Dr Phamnguyen trained extensively in epilepsy during his fellowship at Westmead Hospital. During this training he gained extensive experience in complex epilepsy assessment and management, surgical epilepsy evaluations including intracranial EEG monitoring and neuroimaging evaluation.

Research is an important aspect of Dr John Phamnguyen’s practice. He has presented his research work at national and overseas conferences. He is an active member of the Epilepsy Society of Australia and American Epilepsy Society. Dr John Phamnguyen is currently undertaking a PhD to further understand Epilepsy at the Centre for Advanced Imaging with the University of Queensland.

At BCNC, Dr John Phamnguyen provides consultations for epilepsy including first seizures, transitional epilepsy, pregnancy in epilepsy and the management of complex refractory epilepsies.
